Budding entrepreneurship: Creating my own green tech company

I hope to pursue my dream of being a sustainable entrepreneur, exploring practical solutions for real-world problems. My passion for sustainability has grown since the start of my studies at Heriot-Watt, applying a new way of thinking when understanding the pressing climate emergency.

By doing the little things consistently, everyone is helping us transition into a greener, more prosperous future.

My goal is to use the multidisciplinary skills and knowledge I have acquired to build a promising future for us all. Studying sustainability in the built environment has helped me rethink the way we approach world issues, that has trickled down to all areas of my life.

Recent success in the Heriot-Watt Innovation Challenge with Scrapp, a green tech, recycling solutions company I have founded with two fellow students, has offered us a platform to network with industry members and released the financial backing to take us on the next step of our journey. Our goal for 2021 is to continually build on the business and be ready for full-time employment by Scrapp at the time of graduation.

Scrapp is rooted in the idea of making recycling simple, for everybody. It faces a problem that everyone goes through on a daily basis. What may seem insignificant builds drastically, and the small acts of recycling right compound into making change for the better. By doing the little things consistently, everyone is helping us transition into a greener, more prosperous future.
