What are your motivations for applying for the role?
I like working with people of multi-dimensional cultures from all works of life. I am deeply connected to the alumni network and have a firm and clear understanding of the values and principles of the Watt Club. My passion for the Watt Club brand led me to initiate and start up the Uganda Watt Club branch, which remains strong and embraces the values of Heriot-Watt University.
I embrace the power of alumni networks to inspire, support and uplift both fellow graduates and the university itself. With my leadership background, project management expertise and commitment to fostering inclusive, impactful initiatives, I am confident in my ability to lead the Watt Club into its next phase of growth. My vision is to build stronger global linkages across branches, enhance alumni participation in university development and promote opportunities for professional growth and mentorship within the network.
I bring energy, dedication, and a track record of bringing together diverse groups towards common goals, qualities I believe are vital to this role. It would be an honor to serve as President of the Watt Club and to continue giving back to the community that has greatly shaped my personal and professional journey.
What skills and experience would you bring to the role?
Skills and roles I bring to the role are: A Heriot-Watt graduate with strong personal commitment to the university's mission and values. I have proven alumni leadership as current alumni Head of Uganda, mobilizing and engaging graduates to strengthen alumni-university ties. I have over 10 years of professional experience in project management within telecom, private and public sectors with expertise in strategy, stakeholder engagement and leadership. I have strong communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrated through building networks, inspiring collaboration and driving impactful initiatives. I have professional qualifications (MBA, PMP) that reinforce structured leadership and strategic thinking. I have a track record of service and dedication to alumni causes with a passion for fostering global connections and lifelong learning.
What would be your top three priorities during your term as President?
- Strategic Leadership & Alumni Engagement: I will provide clear direction while strengthening connections across regions, building a more active and supportive global alumni community.
- Fundraising and Development: I will champion initiatives that mobilize resources to support scholarships, innovation, and projects that advance Heriot-Watt's mission.
- Succession Planning & Sustainability: I will mentor future leaders and build systems that ensure continuity, inclusiveness and long-term growth of the Watt Club.
