Research degree affiliation fees

Research degree candidates must enroll every year for the duration of their studies, including when progressing as a continued affiliation (writing-up) student.

At the time of this transfer, continued affiliation students will be required to pay a fee of RM700 for the first year and RM2700 thereafter while writing-up.

Continued affiliation students will have the same support as research degree candidates in their normal period of study, including access to the supervisory team.

Mode of payment

  • Online debit and credit card and direct bank transfers can be paid through the Heriot-Watt online payment system (for new and existing students).
  • Debit and credit card machine available at the Student Service Centre counter.
  • Bank transfer – see bank details below.
  • Draft and cheque or postal order to Heriot-Watt University Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
  • Cheque and cash are only acceptable at the Student Service Centre counter.
  • Maybank credit card Instalment:
    • 6 months Instalment
    • Zero interest rate
    • Minimum charge of RM15,000 of fees
    • One-time RM200 admin fees for each successful instalment.

Enrolment Fee for Students Affiliating to the University
The fee charged for continued affiliation to the University for students completing their Thesis or Dissertation.
*Standard fees: Year 4 £130 & Year 5+ £500. For students in receipt of external funding e.g. from Research Councils or other government agencies where the period of funding exceeds three years, the fees are: First 12 months following funded period £130 & all subsequent years £500.
