Biography

Hello, I’m Dr Liam Donnelly. I am an Assistant Professor in the Institute of Chemical Sciences, where I teach across our organic chemistry curriculum – including reaction mechanisms, structural analysis, and advanced synthetic methods – and support student laboratory training and outreach activities within the department. My research focuses on green and sustainable chemistry, developing new catalytic methods to transform renewable feedstock chemicals into useful molecules and functional materials. My career has taken me through multiple countries and both academic and industrial settings, giving me broad experience in different approaches to modern chemical challenges. Alongside my teaching and research, I serve as the Chemistry Outreach Coordinator and Deputy Admissions Tutor, supporting our student community and promoting chemistry within schools and the wider public.
