MA (Hons) Economics and Business Management at Heriot-Watt University is a joint degree that will prepare you for a thriving career in business. This programme will give you the skills essential for understanding economic and management situations, which are equally transferable to many other conditions.

This degree does not require prior knowledge of the core disciplines of economics and business management – study begins at an introductory level and the degree has a flexible structure so you can tailor your studies to pursue your own career interests.  

Your learning will be underpinned by the knowledge of highly respected academics who design and teach our courses with a real-world focus that stems directly from their global research into economic and business issues.  

Throughout your studies, you’ll have opportunities to develop scholarship skills, undertake professional and employability development, and engage in reflective learning. The MA (Hons) Economics and Business Management degree will equip you with a wide range of quantitative, analytical and communication skills to prepare you for career paths in business, management, marketing, banking, finance, policy analysis, civil service, academia and more.

*Minimum: under our Fair Access Policy, we will relax our standard entry requirements for some Scottish and Rest of UK status students depending on their circumstances. Our minimum requirements will apply if you:

  • live in an area within the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation lowest 20% (SIMD20) or POLAR4 Quintile 1 regions (RUK)
  • or are care experienced.
