College qualifications

Around 20% of our students gain entry to undergraduate programmes after successfully completing a course at college.

We believe that finding the right route into university, and at the right year of entry, is very important. Our widening participation team are here to help you find the right route for you. Find out how we can help you

Undergraduate programmes

Around 20% of our students use a qualification such as an HNC or HND to get into our university each year. We have a number of partnership agreements (called articulation agreements) with local colleges in specific subjects which support students to get advanced entry into years two or three, and some have specific modules that you have to study.

You can find out more about the agreements we have with local college partners on the ‘Pathways’ website.

It is also possible to get entry to our degree courses from colleges we don’t have agreements with. If you don’t see your college or course on the Pathways website get in touch with our widening participation team and we can let you know what routes are open to you – WP@hw.ac.uk.

Postgraduate programmes

The following HNC and HND qualifications, combined with relevant experience, are acceptable entry qualifications for most postgraduate programmes:

  • HND plus 4 years of relevant post qualification experience
  • HNC plus 6 years of relevant post qualification experience
  • 8 years relevant experience at a suitable level plus either interview or passes in two modules

Please contact the relevant School or Institute for further details.
